6-year-old Student Assaults Gym Teacher
Dec 19, 2012
Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) December 18, 2012 – Bizarre news is not unheard of, and this case is no exception to that observation.
“In this line of work, litigation funding, we hear about a number of unusual cases. This one took the cake. Allegedly, a 6-year-old student assaulted a gym teacher, injuring his knee and ankle and leading to treatment for stress,” recounted Darren Monroe of Litigation Funding Corporation, Michigan.
The gym teacher is 220 pounds. The child that allegedly attacked him is a 50 pound first grade student, who evidently not only attacked the gym teacher, but a security officer and his school principal. Victims contend the student acts sweet, but is anything but if angered. The gym teacher’s lawsuit says he is now forced to wear braces on his right knee and ankle; an evident source of humiliation and embarrassment for the man.
“As for the parents? They suggest their son may have a few issues, but do not think he is capable of doing so much damage. The gym teacher disagrees, and is seeking compensation for his medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering,” said Monroe. It appears his knee and ankle injury will be long term and may interfere with his ability to teach. His doctor advised him to remain off work for a number of months because of his physical and emotional condition.
The kick to the knee and ankle were evidently not just the regular kind of kicks a school boy would dole out, but were physically aggressive karate-style kicks, aimed with some precision at the gym teacher’s ankle and knee. He also bit his teacher. He went on to also kick and pinch the acting principal and a safety officer. Although the police responded to the call, there was no further action taken. In the meantime, the child’s parents advised the school, law enforcement and the attorneys involved, that the boy was now on medication and doing better.
“As odd as this case may be,” remarked Monroe, “there is a very real issue involved here – an injury that is bad enough to lay a person off work for a period of time. Additionally, there is the likelihood the injuries may be long-term and affect the teacher’s job and employability in the future. How does he pay for his medical bills on a teacher’s salary?”
When a plaintiff finds themselves in a financial bind, trying to pay for medical expenses and their usual monthly bills, and are waiting for a lawsuit to go to court, their best recourse for emergency funding would be to apply to a litigation funding company. Qualified plaintiffs receive a fast cash law suit loan in less than 48 hours, with the funds being deposited directly to their bank account.
An application for pre-settlement funding may be accessed online, or a plaintiff may call the litigation funding company directly. “They are treated with respect, because the people who answer your call know you have been through a rough time, and need help,” added Monroe. “While pre-settlement funding is not for everyone, it is worth asking about to see if it may help stabilize your financial situation while you are waiting for justice.”
