22-Year-Old Trucker Loses Control Of Rig, Kills Four In Crash Relates Lee, Gober & Reyna

Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) September 12, 2013 – Inexperienced 18-wheeler truckers may be deadly on the road.

It was late May and roughly 100 miles west of Fort Worth when four people lost their lives in an accident with an 18-wheeler. It happened when the 22-year-old trucker lost control of his rig on his way down a steep hill in Eastland County. Unable to regain control of the truck, he ended up driving over a concrete median, flipping over and crashing into two other vehicles, a 2008 Ford pickup and a 2011 Honda, travelling in the opposite direction.

The occupants in the Honda, all hailing from El Paso, were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency response personnel. The Ford driver, from Midland, was airlifted to the nearest hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Three people made it out of this monumental wreck, but will live with injuries varying from significant to catastrophic. A collision with a big rig never has a good outcome,” added Lee. “I’ve seen many such accidents in my years of practice and they are never easy to deal with for anyone, particularly the survivors.”
Those who did survive this crash may choose to sue the trucker and the company he works for. These cases are quagmires of jurisdictional issues, and usually mean multiple phalanxes of trucking company lawyers and insurance lawyers, all vying to reduce or diminish any possible accident claims.
