Alcohol Suspected As Cause Of Deadly San Antonio Car Wreck Indicates Austin Injury Lawyer Lee
Dec 15, 2013
Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) December 12, 2013 – One man died and two others were seriously injured in a recent Sunday collision that involved an alleged drunk driver.
“This incident was quite horrendous, with three passengers in a car with an allegedly drunk driver, ending up in an unbeliveabely devastating wreck. From police reports, it appears the 22-year-old driver was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree. Two of the three passengers in the vehicle were in serious condition and were transported to hospital. The third man in the car was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Bobby Lee, an Austin injury lawyer with Lee, Gober & Reyna.
Eyewitnesses on the scene indicated the car smelled of beer and that there was a box of Bud Light in the vehicle. During a police investigation of the car, officers found two bags of some substance that was leafy and green and an unlabelled medicine bottle with a variety of pills in it. It was not clear at the scene if the green, leafy substance was marijuana or something else, and the pills would need to be analyzed in order to determine what they were and if they were narcotics.
“Was the driver drinking? Under the influence of alcohol and drugs? It’s likely, given the evidence found at the scene. However, as with any accident, all the facts may not be available until a much later stage in the investigation. It’s hard to assume right off the bat that the driver had been smoking up or popping pills, until a blood sample is taken. Having said that, it’s highly likely the driver was under the influence of something, or he would not have lost control of his car —- unless there were a mechanical defect —- another issue the police will deal with during their investigation,” added Lee.
Drinking and driving is never a good idea. Smoking up or popping pills and driving is never a good idea. Texting and driving is just as deadly as drunk driving and under the influence of substance driving. “Think about others before you get behind the wheel of a vehicle that could kill someone else because you are too out of it to drive. It could save a life, yours included” Lee pointed out.
