Personal Injury Attorneys Petrillo & Goldberg Comment on How Failure to Stop at Stop Sign Causes Deadly Crash
Feb 10, 2016
Pennsauken, NJ (Law Firm Newswire) February 10, 2016 – In Pemberton Township, New Jersey, an 80-year-old woman named Nancy Rizzolo from Wenonah, Gloucester County, lost her life late Saturday, December 12, 2015, following an accident involving two cars.
She was a passenger in an Oldsmobile Aurora driven by 58-year-old Guy Rizzolo, who is also from Wenonah. The head-on collision occurred on Route 70 at approximately 9:15 p.m. It was reported that she was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
It was also reported that 26-year-old Bryan Hansen from Toms River was operating a Honda Civic on Lakehurst Road, and neglected to stop at a stop sign. He subsequently hit the Oldsmobile Aurora that was going west on Route 70.
“Motor vehicle accidents frequently occur due to the negligence of one of the motorists involved in the collision. An increasing number of such accidents take place due to distracted driving. Motorists are often distracted by their cell phone, on which they may be talking or texting. Such distractions can often have deadly consequences,” stated prominent South Jersey personal injury attorneys Petrillo & Goldberg.
Guy Rizzolo, Hansen and Hansen’s passenger, were taken to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Per the report, Nancy Rizzolo was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Although Nancy Rizzolo was not wearing a seatbelt, there is no way to determine whether she would have lived had she been wearing a seatbelt. Even if she had been wearing a seatbelt, the motorist in the other vehicle would still have failed to stop at the stop sign, and would still have crashed into the car in which Nancy Rizzolo was a passenger. He was grossly negligent, and such negligence was the cause of the fatal accident.
