Pennsauken, NJ (Law Firm Newswire) June 20, 2016 – In Camden, New Jersey, on April 25th, a 16-year-old boy struck and killed a 53-year-old pedestrian while driving a stolen vehicle.
As reported in Patch.com, the teen hit Tia Walker with a vehicle that was stolen at about 9:50 a.m. in the vicinity of South 7th and Pine streets. Following the collision, the operator drove to South 7th and Royden streets, and halted at the median, at which point two suspects left the car.
“Motorists need to be more aware of pedestrians, and try to prevent accidents like this one from occurring,” said prominent South Jersey personal injury attorneys Petrillo & Goldberg. “When such accidents take place, the family of the victim should contact a personal injury attorney immediately to find out whether they can file a wrongful death lawsuit.”
The car was a 2001 silver Cadillac Deville, which was later returned to its owner. The teen faces the following charges:
· First-degree aggravated manslaughter
· Second-degree aggravated assault
· Second-degree fleeing the scene of a deadly motor vehicle accident
· Third-degree endangering a victim who suffered an injury
· Third-degree causing death while operating a car without a license
· Third-degree receipt of stolen property
While there is an ongoing investigation into the accident, the victim’s family members and friends have questions about her death. Walker was on her way to her home in Centerville after cleaning the house in which an elderly relative lived. She was a mother of two adult children, a member of a marching band and graduated from Camden High School. She was a maintenance worker at City Hall, and worked as a day care aide.
