Yolanda Lamar Allegedly Died Due to Neglect While in Care
Jul 5, 2016
Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) July 5, 2016 – According to the court documents filed in this case, Yolanda Lamar sustained permanent injuries after falling out of her bed at her care home. The lawsuit cites negligence resulting in wrongful death.
On May 24, 2014, Yolanda Lamar fell out of her bed while in care at the Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital. She died four days later as a result of those injuries. Yolanda’s son, Cordell Lamar chose to file a wrongful death lawsuit alleging negligence in the care of his mother.
According to the statement of claim, Mr. Lamar alleges the defendants should be held responsible for his mother’s death because they failed to properly supervise her and to take reasonable precautions to protect her while she was in their care.
Ms. Lamar’s medical bills and expenses for the facility care would have been quite steep. Mr. Lamar would need to find a way to be able to pay those bills and still keep up-to-date with his regular expenses. One solution that might have worked for him could have been to apply for litigation funding, also referred to as pre-settlement funding, but it is not a loan. “Applicants face no application fees, no monthly payments, and no credit checks or employment verification,” explained Daren Monroe, Litigation Funding Corporation representative. After an application from a plaintiff has been reviewed, if approved, funds are usually available within 24 – 48 hours and are sent straight to the plaintiff’s bank account.
Approved funds are given to plaintiffs based on case-value only and all monies are provided on a non-recourse basis, which means a plaintiff only repays the cash advance if, and when, they win their case.
“If you lose your case, you owe the litigation funding company nothing and there are no strings attached,” added Monroe. “Most applicants appreciate the ease of application, the helpful and compassionate service and the support they receive throughout the process.”
