Prominent South Florida Personal Injury Lawyers Comment on Prevalence of Pedestrian Fatalities in Florida

Miami, FL (Law Firm Newswire) March 9, 2017 – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car while crossing the street in Manatee County, Florida, around 12:49 a.m. on January 15.
As reported by Explore Clarion, Ashley Hasychak, age 24, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, was trying to cross U.S. 41 close to 55th Avenue West. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the force of the impact sent her onto a sidewalk and into a light post. She was taken to Blake Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
Officials are conducting a criminal investigation into the incident, and are waiting for the results of toxicology tests. There are charges pending against the motorist, Gary Moses, age 54, of Bradenton. He was uninjured.

Between 2005 and 2014, Americans were 7.2 times as likely to be killed as a pedestrian than to die from a natural disaster.
