Security Guard Body Slams Teen, Teen Sustains Traumatic Brain Injury

Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) July 9, 2018 – A 15-year-old high school teen landed in a hospital with a traumatic brain injury after a school security guard broke up an altercation between students.
According to eyewitness testimony the initial fight, which started the cascade of events leading to a traumatic brain injury, was between the 15-year-old and two other students. A school security guard broke the fight up and body-slammed the 15-year-old into a wall causing him to fall to the ground and crack his skull. The boy had a 30-second seizure after the fall.
The teen was taken to hospital where he had emergency surgery and was sent to ICU to begin the recovery process. Although the teen regained consciousness, he does not recall being body slammed or how he ended up in the hospital. Two videos of the incident with the security guard allegedly show aggressive and unnecessary actions taken against the boy.
After some time in recovery, it is apparent the teen is having trouble with his memory, answering questions and making sentences. While the teen is making progress, he remains confused about why he is in the hospital.
Not wanting another family to go through an ordeal such as this one, the family of the teen could opt to file a lawsuit. “Their son has a long road to recovery ahead of him and by filing a lawsuit, they may be able to obtain fair and equitable compensation for his severe injuries,” said Austin traumatic brain injury attorney, Brooks Schuelke, of Schuelke Law.
