Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Panama’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Federico Alfaro and Minister of Foreign Affairs Janaina Tewaney. The three discussed how commercial relations between the United States and Panama could be strengthened, particularly in the areas of nearshoring, sound trade and investment policies, and collaborating to create stronger, more resilient supply chains between the two countries. Secretary Raimondo congratulated the Panamanian leaders on the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the U.S.-Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD) Supply Chain Partnership and encouraged them to identify new opportunities to create an enabling environment for increased trade and investment.
