Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Bang Moon-Kyu. Both Secretary Raimondo and Minister Bang are participating in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in San Francisco. During the meeting, they discussed ways in which the United States and the Republic of Korea can deepen collaboration on critical and emerging technologies. They also discussed their shared desire to hold the first trilateral U.S.-Republic of Korea-Japan Commerce and Industry Ministerial Meeting in early 2024. Secretary Raimondo thanked Minister Bang for the Republic of Korea’s leadership and contributions to the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). Both participated in the IPEF Ministerial Meeting on Pillars II, II, and IV earlier this week.
