BRASILIA – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo met with Brazil Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Geraldo Alckmin to continue strengthening the U.S.-Brazil bilateral and commercial ties during her first official visit to Brazil. Building on President Biden’s meetings with President Lula in Washington, D.C. in February 2023 and New York in September, the two discussed shared values and commitments to combat climate change; support diversity, equity, and inclusion; strengthen democracy; and protect workers’ rights. The Secretary discussed her role as co-chair of the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum and emphasized the importance of collaborating with our private sectors to achieve progress for workers and people in both of our countries. Secretary Raimondo shared updates on historic U.S. investments in semiconductors and clean energy supply chains and raised areas of potential opportunities for collaboration. She conveyed the Department of Commerce commitment to advance opportunities for increased bilateral trade and investment through the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum and the U.S.-Brazil Commercial Dialogue.
