Fourteen-Month-Old Child Dies After Visit to Dentist
Apr 4, 2017
Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) April 4, 2017 – The parents of a 14-month-old toddler filed a wrongful lawsuit against an Austin dentist alleging there was no reason their child needed dental work based on x-rays produced for court.
According to the medical examiner, the young child died from complications due to the anesthesia given during her treatment. She was at the dental office to have two cavities filled when she lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. She died later that day.
The child’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit naming the anesthesiologist, the dentist, the dental practice and the company that employs the anesthesiologist, alleging the procedure that killed their daughter was a fraudulent attempt to garner Medicaid tax dollars. Those allegations were based on the evidence that there was no sign of dental disease or cavities in the radiographs taken the day the child died.
The allegations further suggested that the dentist and the dental practice did unnecessary dental work on the 14-month-old child and may have done the same thing on other toddlers and infants. The attorney representing the parents of the child says the lawsuit is intended to inform other parents they can never ask too many questions when the safety and health of a child is at stake.
Losing a loved one unexpectedly is devastating. Attempting to pay extra financial burdens, such as hospital care, funeral and burial expenses is difficult for those left behind who may struggle to pay their monthly and other on-going financial obligations. “One solution for the family would be to investigate whether or not applying for litigation funding would suit them,” said Daren Monroe, Litigation Funding Corporation representative.
The application process for litigation funding or a lawsuit loan is simple and if the plaintiff is approved, a lawsuit cash advance can be made available within 24 to 48 hours. A lawsuit loan is awarded based on the winnability of the case; whether the applicant has a job or a good credit rating not does not matter. Once approval is granted and the applicant signs a contract, funds can be sent either by wire or by check.
“Lawsuit loan” funds may be used immediately to pay any costs associated with the lawsuit and/or to deal with monthly financial obligations. “A lawsuit cash advance is 100 percent risk-free. If the case is lost, clients do not repay the pre-settlement funding,” Monroe added.
