National Aging and Law Institute Presentation Focuses on the Next Generation of Law Firm Leaders
Nov 11, 2011
Moorestown, NJ (Law Firm Newswire) November 10, 2011 – New Jersey elder law attorney Thomas D. Begley, Jr. of the Begley Law Group, PC will lead a seminar along with attorney Andrew H. Hook from Oast & Hook at the National Aging & Law Institute & Advanced Boot Camp this week in Boston, Mass. The presentation “Training the Next Generation” will be given Friday, Nov. 11 for elder and special needs law professionals.
“Elder law, estate planning, and special needs law firms can benefit by focusing on the long-term viability of their firm early on,” said Begley Jr. “Just as a lawyer would do for a client, it pays to look inward periodically to see which individuals are going to be the future, key attorneys in your organization and how you can train and teach that next generation to succeed.”
The presentation is packed with information on how to recruit, retain and grow a specialized law practice and plan for critical turning points with the firm’s longstanding rainmakers. Planning early on, whether that means a succession plan, leveraging the firm’s practice areas, or even selling it years down the road, requires a team effort. Firms of all sizes can benefit by attending the presentation so that surprises do not hurt a firm’s livelihood should a key employee pass away, become disabled, or retire without a successor.
“Law firms can take a lot of inspiration from big business and even the military to take a systematic approach to running their business and planning for its future,” said Begley, who is a past NAELA President’s Award recipient and Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Adequate planning will also garner more client satisfaction as there will be a seamless transition from the senior attorneys to associate attorneys and other staff that bring their own unique strengths to the firm. “Those attorneys that exemplify the firm’s culture and commitment to client loyalty are invaluable assets,” said Begley. “Making them leaders will help continue the firm’s branding and business efforts for many years to come.”
